Now Is the Perfect Time to Plump Up Your Smile

Something about spring and summer makes us all want to refresh our looks. Why not start with your smile?
If you’ve been thinking about lip fillers or wondering how to enhance your lips naturally and safely, now’s the perfect time to see our specialists at Allure Dermatology.
Here’s everything you should know about how lip fillers work and what you can expect.
Why lip fillers?
Lip fillers (most commonly made with hyaluronic acid) are injectable treatments that help add volume, shape, and definition to the lips. Whether you want a subtle boost or a more noticeable pout, we can customize your injections to match your facial features and aesthetic goals.
The best part? They’re nonsurgical, quick, and provide instant results with minimal downtime.
Why now?
While you can see us for lip fillers any time of year, spring and early summer are ideal for a few reasons.
This is the time of year when your social calendar is jam-packed with photo-ops, like weddings and vacations. Lip fillers offer a quick confidence boost so you can feel your best wherever you (and the cameras) go.
That’s why you should get started now, so you have time to heal before those events hit. You don’t need a ton of downtime after getting lip fillers, but we do recommend allowing a few days for your lips to settle before a big event. Planning now means you’ll be picture-perfect for all your summer events.
Late spring isn’t as hot, and the UV levels haven’t shot up yet, which makes sun protection much easier to manage. After fillers, it’s important to avoid excessive sun exposure and heat. Spring’s milder temps make it easier to protect your lips as they heal.
What am I in for?
Getting lip fillers is surprisingly simple. The whole process typically takes 30-45 minutes. Here’s a quick rundown of what happens.
Your first step is a consultation with an Allure Dermatology provider. We discuss your goals, evaluate your facial structure, and determine the best filler type and amount for your desired results.
Once it’s time for your injection, the first step is to apply a topical numbing cream to help minimize any discomfort during the injection process.
Then, we carefully inject the filler into specific areas of your lips using a fine needle. You may feel a little pressure, but most patients find it totally tolerable.
And that’s it.
We send you home with a few tips on reducing swelling (think ice packs and avoiding salty foods) and how to care for your lips over the next couple of days. After your appointment, you might notice some swelling, tenderness, or light bruising. That’s normal and usually fades within a few days. Here’s how to speed things along:
- Avoid strenuous exercise for 24-48 hours
- Skip hot drinks and spicy foods for a day or two
- Don’t press or massage your lips unless we tell you to
- Stay hydrated and keep your lips moisturized
We also recommend avoiding alcohol and blood-thinning medications (like ibuprofen) right before and after treatment to reduce bruising.
Most people return to their routine the same day or the next.
When will I see results, and how long do they last?
Results are essentially instant. Once the filler goes in, your lips respond immediately, and you walk out of our office with a perfect pout.
Lip fillers typically last up to 12 months, depending on the product we use and how your body metabolizes it. Over time, the filler naturally breaks down, and you can return for a touch-up when you’re ready.
The best part? Since the results are temporary, you can ease into your ideal look over time or adjust based on your changing preferences.
A successful outcome depends just as much on your injector as it does on the filler itself. That’s why you should choose one of our board-certified dermatologists with experience in facial anatomy and cosmetic injectables. We ensure your results look natural, symmetrical, and suited to your face.
Your smile is one of the first things people notice — why not let it shine a little brighter this season? With just one quick appointment, you’ll be selfie-ready for everything from spring brunches to summer beach days.
